Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that people can get very extreme about- one way or another. For me and Josias, we never really went all out for Valentine's Day. Then we had kids, and it felt a little more impossible to try and make it a big event. But, in the last few years, we've developed some pretty sweet little traditions that aren't crazy, but make the day feel a bit more special.
Our first Valentine's Day after having Judah, we agreed that we weren't going to go out or anything. We were just going to put the baby to bed early and spend the night in. I decided to buy some steaks, try out a new pasta recipe and just have fun with it. After finding an incredible recipe for steak rub and pairing it with the best pasta ever (pasta carbonara) we knew that we wanted to do that every year. It's a meal that we don't eat every day, we get to enjoy a relaxed evening with no pressure, and we get to spend time with our little valentines, too!
Last year, Judah and I made a special Valentine's Day cake and that is now part of our tradition because it was so much fun! So tomorrow, we're going to spend the day making a cake for our family, maybe color some valentines, and then end the evening with a delicious steak dinner. I may even get Josias to watch Pride and Prejudice or something... We'll see about that one, ha!
So even if you don't have an insane budget, or the time to get together with your significant other like you used to, you can still make Valentine's Day a great excuse to celebrate the one you love and make them feel special. It's fun, I promise! Happy Valentine's Day.
You know my address.
Sounds yummy! I can't wait to try them.
